The coolest popsicles ever

These are the coolest popsicles we’ve ever seen! Designer Davis Marx wanted to change the boring popsicle shapes and created the world’s first molecular popsicle.
For this invention three years of development with university scientists, a Michelin three-star chef, and a manufacturer of industrial nitrogen machinery was necessary. The goal: completely reinventing the form, function, and flavor of freezer pops. Continue Reading →

Tasty Gluten Free Bread

The glutenfree section in our stores is expanding. That makes sense, because of the growing group of gluten intolerant people all over the world. But as far as we can see, this section is full with prepacked, processed and untasty alternatives for the real deal, with the most horrific of them all, glutenfree bread.

But maybe this will all change soon, with Rightbread taking over the world. Rightbread is gluten free, vegan and seems to be pretty tasty (we haven’t tried it, yet). Besides, Rightbread is low in carbs and high in proteins and fibers. Rightbread is made of chiaseeds, soy flour, ground almonds and some other healthy ingredients.

Coffee Cubes

Last week we found an exciting package in our mailbox. Coffee Cubes from Poland. The producer Milla Cubes Polska asked us to try their new product and tell them what we think.

Well, we love new products so we tried it right away!

It are cubes made off instant coffee, panela (an unrefined cane sugar) and some added flavors. Boil water or milk and whisk the cubes untill they are solved for a homemade hot treat.

Good looking design and a refreshing rectangular shape the instant coffee is presented in.

The producer still has  some work to do with optimizing the flavor (this is a little to sweet for us) and making it solve faster in the hot milk or water. Get rid of the artificial flavors too and we think this will be an great new way of drinking coffee!

Sharing food photos to share actual food

Feedie is an app that transforms food photos (which are shared online in large numbers) into actual food for disadvantaged children in South Africa. Every time one takes a photo of a meal enjoyed in one of the participating restaurants, the restaurant donates money to the value of one meal to the Lunchbox Fund, who in their turn provide food for hungry children.

Crystal on a stick

For the Vienna Design Week, the design duo Bertille & Mathieu teamed up with the crystal manufacturer Lobmeyr, creating Lobmeyr Experimental Sweet Factory. To make the brand a little bit more accessible, they made lollipops, pointing out similarities between the process of candy making and crystal manufacturing (which are both done by melting and boiling powders). The design duo used Lobmeyrs products as tools for molding the shapes of the sweets, in order to make them look like crystal on a stick.

Prep Pad

The Prep Pad is a digital scale that not only weighs your ingredients, but also provides you with nutritional information about your meals via an iOS app, called Countertop. The app compares your meal with suggested protein, carb and fat levels and it also remembers your previous meals to determine whether you’re having balanced meals. Continue Reading →

Too beautiful to eat

These transparent lollypops (called Fruitsiqles) contain soft and fresh fruit and are homemade by the three sisters behind the Lovelies brand. They’ve found a way to save the taste and structural properties of the fruit within the sweets, so that we can now enjoy the freshness of fruit in combination with  Continue Reading →
