An ultrasound way to improve wine quality. Who would have thought?

Scientist Charles Leonhardt and US tech firm Dionysus Technology Concepts had come up with a device that replicates the wine-ageing process within minutes, using ultrasound.

The Sonic Decanter has different settings for red and white wine. You need to pour some water into the machine, which acts as a conductor for sound-wave energy, before putting in a bottle of red or white wine.

The process claimes to remove oxygen and sulphur dioxide from the wine fewer than 20 minutes, transforming the molecular and chemical structure and improving the texture, aroma and taste. The product can also be used for uncorked and older wines.
